The time has finally arrived for another one week challenge. I must apologise for the delay, but unfortunately some personal issues prevented me from getting started. No more excuses though, I’m ready to go!
In my younger days, there was a certain handheld device that many may have now forgotten about. Its never truly gotten the appreciation it deserved, but I buried hours of my life into one of these things. I am of course referring to the humble brick game.
Now, these claimed to have an insane amount of games on them, but they were all really just variations of 4 or 5 games. Still, it was a charming little device and it’s from here that I draw inspiration for the next one week challenge.
While Tetris and Snake were 2 of the big sellers for this device, there was also a car game which I really loved. The aim was simple – keep dodging the cars for as long as possible. Movement was left to right and you also had the ability to accelerate.
I’m going to attempt to build something like this for this weeks challenge. I’m not yet sure how well its going to work, but I shall try nonetheless.
I actually followed a tutorial to build a Tetris game a while ago and I must confess that I didn’t understand the grid system all that well, so this is an attempt to improve my knowledge of it.
I’ll do the midweek progress update to let you know how its going. This will be due next week Wednesday, sometime in the evening (South African time).
Here we go, 7 days starting now.
